THYSSENKRUPP BUYERS MULL EXPANSION WORTH "BILLIONS"
A consortium that won a bidding contest to acquire thyssenkrupp Elevator is poised to pour billions of euros into an expansion of “the world's fourth-largest lift manufacturer,” Reuters reported on March 1. "There is no shortage of money for a global expansion," Ranjan Sen, managing partner of private equity firm Advent, said in a quote in German business publication Handelsblatt. Advent, Cinven and RAG AG make up the consortium that presented a winning bid of EUR17.2 billion (US$18.96 billion) to buy thyssenkrupp Elevator, a deal announced on February 28. Sen said funding for expansion "could by all means amount to single-digit billions."
